THE DEATH OF MONEY

A special one-off performance on this stage will be delivered by The Death Of Money, a band formed around 2004 in south Wales and presently based between there and Manchester. In their time together, they’ve built on their sonic origins as a band – heavy, doomy pummelling plus a hypnotic way with repetition – to the finely textured, shoegaze and electronic-influenced sound heard on Ghost Pains, their long-awaited third album. At Fat Out Fest, TDOM will remodel these sounds into a drone-based set, harnessing a potential for space travellin’ that’s at the heart of their music. Additionally, two of the three band members will incorporate their own electronic solo drone projects into the performance. Darren Kaskie (vocals and guitar) records as SVNTREADER, under which name he has a cassette due on Gnod’s Tesla Tapes in the near future. His music traverses skeletal dub bass, post-techno rhythms and euphorically noisy synth tones. Alex Morgan (bass) also records as MELLTITH; a tape EP, Sagittarius A*, features just under half an hour of off-centre outsider techno, brimming with eerie tones and beats that work either through a speaker stack, or under the covers at 5am.
