NAPPES~SONORESis an exploration of spatially and perceptually concerned live and recorded sound, within a curated line up of diverse artists existing on the borderline of varied live sound practices, facilitated by MUTO collective.

 

The event marks the culmination of “Do you speak Malentendu,” a one year theoretical, poetic and visual exploration of misunderstanding alongside Rennes (FR) based artist in residence, Stephanie Vivier.

 

Through varied platforms, the residency invites the public and artist community of Manchester and beyond to join Vivier in her research. Within NAPPESSONORES, Vivier will facilitate an immersive listening event F(r)ASE a curated score of sounds by the artist in response to the notions of polysemy and misunderstanding.

 

Fractures and openings are generated through an exploration of phrase and phase (phase/dephasage) viewed as a shift within the mechanisms of rhythm. F(r)ASE is accompanied by Vivier’s durational installations throughout the space and followed by live performances by related artists from 6pm, line up to be announced via the MUTO Collective FB.
